Registration is now open to All Members who want to learn bleeding control skills that can make a life or death difference.
This lifesaving course will be conducted by the Torrington Fire Department using training materials specifically developed to teach bleeding control techniques, and to provide practice time to build your skills confidence.
A bleeding injury can happen anywhere. Why be a witness, when you can become an immediate responder!
What you’ll Learn
Three quick techniques to help save a life:
- How to use your hands to apply pressure to the wound
- How to pack a wound to control bleeding
- How to correctly apply a tourniquet
AED protocol has seven basic steps:
- Check unresponsiveness
- Call 911 or the local emergency number (if applicable), and retrieve the AED
- Open the airway and check for breathing…
- Check for a pulse…
- Attach the AED electrode pads
- Analyze the heart rhythm…
- Press the ‘shock’ button, if advised. Make sure no one is touching the victim
