This is a Galactic Pistol Alliance (GPA) match. GPA is very similar to IDPA but operates under a different (and relaxed) set of rules. Notable differences are:
- 24 rounds maximum per stage
- Carry as many mags as desired
- One mandatory reload per stage – you decide when and where
- Targets may be required to be shot while moving
- No tactical priority while shooting in the open
- Drop a loaded mag with no penalty
- Unlimited steel targets
- Unlimited non-threats
- No cover garment
- ½ second scoring
The biggest difference is in the shooter classification system. Stages have a PAR time, and you are ‘graded’ on how you stacked up against your fellow competitors. Your classification can be adjusted up/down depending on your performance match to match.
Complete GPA rule book can be found here.
GPA matches at NWCSA usually consist of 6-7 different courses of fire (stages) where you will shoot about 150 rounds of service ammo (9mm/.38cal min). Shooters are timed and coupled with accuracy of fire a score will be assigned. There are no awards or cash prizes. Shooters attend a GPA match to learn and improve their skills in a safe and friendly environment.
Safety brief, pledge, and walk through of first stages begins 8:45AM.
Please arrive 45-60 min before match start time to register and gear up.
Please note that pre-registration and payment is required on Practiscore.
If you have never shot an Action Pistol type competition and would like to learn more we offer a no cost 2-3 hour workshop that will cover everything you need to know to be ready for your first match. If interested, please contact ap@nwcsa.org.
