SUMMARY:NRA Range Safety Officer Course
DESCRIPTION:NWCSA encourages all members to learn more about supervising\nsafe shooting activities and range operations through this program. \nDescription \nThe NRA Range Safety Officer Course teaches the basic duties a Range Safety Officer performs. \nIt provides a thorough introduction to: \n\nThe role of the Range Safety Officer (RSO)\nRange Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)\nRange safety briefings\, inspections and rules\nEmergency procedures\nHow to clear firearms stoppages and correct malfunctions\n\nThe course also introduces various types of firearms actions\, including the unloading and clearing process. \nUpon successful completion\, passing the written (open book) test\, you will be a designated NWCSA RSO. Optional: Members can pay the required NRA fees and also receive a NRA RSO certification. \nNWCSA RSO Benefits \nAny RSO who volunteers for a minimum of (5) qualifying events before Aug 31st\, 2026 will receive a volunteer service hour waiver (2025/2026) and a paid NWCSA single membership (2026/2027). \nRegistration\n\nOrganizer: Diane Munzner (NWCSA Safety Chair)\nParticipant Limit: 20\nProgram Fee: $60 (payment due January 28\, 2026)\nSign-in: 7:45AM (collect course materials) \nExpect 2 scheduled breaks and 1hr for lunch. \nMaterials Provided \n\nRefreshments and morning snacks\nCourse materials\n\nParticipant Responsibility \n\nNWCSA ID Badge\nNRA Member ID# (for certification)\nWriting materials (pens/pencils/highlighters\, notebook)\nLunch\, other snacks\, and hydration\n\nAbout NRA RSO Programs \nThe NRA Range Safety Officer (RSO) program was developed in response to the demand for a nationally recognized range safety officer certification. Online classes are also available through the NRA RSO website. \nThis course does not encompass the functions and responsibilities of a Range Officer\, who conducts NRA competitive shooting events.

DESCRIPTION:Open to all NWCSA Members and Family \nDescription \nThe NRA Range Safety Officer Course teaches the basic duties a Range Safety Officer performs. \nIt provides a thorough introduction to: \n\nThe role of the Range Safety Officer (RSO)\nRange Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)\nRange safety briefings\, inspections and rules\nEmergency procedures\nHow to clear firearms stoppages and correct malfunctions\n\nThe course also introduces various types of firearms actions\, including the unloading and clearing process. \nUpon successful completion\, passing the written (open book) test and payment of NRA fees\,\nyou will be certified as a NRA Range Safety Officer. \nNote: the skills acquired in this course require regular practice which should initially take place under the supervision of a qualified individual – such as an NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO).
