SUMMARY:Action Steel Match
DESCRIPTION:This club match will challenge shooters with steel targets placed at various distances. Shooters are formed into squads and a squad will shoot a course of fire (stage.) Stages may be based on Steel Challenge\, but this is not an SCSA sanctioned event. SCSA stages consists of 5-6 steel targets of varying sizes and placed in varying patterns – the shooters will shoot at the targets 5 times and the worst string is dropped. Other stages may be more ad-hoc and utilize dueling tree\, Texas Star\, poppers\, etc. The purpose of our Action Steel matches is to have fun! You don’t need to be an expert shooter to enjoy it. The targets aren’t that hard to hit\, and the bell-like qualities of the steel plates make it fun even if you aren’t the fastest shooter. \nThe purpose of this match is to have fun! You don’t need to be an expert shooter to enjoy it. The targets aren’t that hard to hit and the bell-like qualities of the steel plates make it fun even if you aren’t the fastest shooter. \nPre-registration and payment via Practiscore required; use link under Details on right. \nPlease arrive al least 30 minutes before start time to register and gear up. \nCourse Of Fire \n\nMatch is divided into two squads\, with a squad starting in each pit.\nCourse of fire starts at the low ready\, muzzle touching the shooting table\, or from holster with wrists below beltline.\nSafety Officer will use IDPA commands to guide shooter through course of fire.\nSemi Auto guns will be loaded with 10 rounds and revolvers will be loaded to their max capacity.\nEach course of fire may be different\, so engage each target according to the written stage description. The game is speed v. accuracy. The total amount of time it takes to complete the course of fire is your score. Lower scores are better\, like in golf. Each stage is repeated five times for five strings. Your highest score is dropped from each string.\n\nDivisions \n\nCenterfire Pistol (CP)                Any centerfire pistol with iron sights.\nCenterfire Pistol Optics (CPO) Any centerfire pistol with optical sights.\nRevolver (REV)                         Any revolver with iron sights.\nOptical Sight Revolver (REVO) Any revolver with optical sights.\nRimfire Pistol (RP)             Any .22LR pistol with iron sights.\nRimfire Pistol Optics (RPO) Any .22LR pistol with optical sights.\n\nRecommendations For Match Participants \n\nGood eye and ear protection are critical for this match. Also be sure to wear appropriate clothing and footwear. Fragments can come back from the steel. Usually\, fragments do not come back fast enough to be anything more than an annoyance\, but they have been known to sometimes break skin.\nYou will shoot a minimum of 150 rounds in a 6-stage match. That’s assuming you don’t miss\, which you probably will. It’s recommended you bring 300 rounds.\nIt is very helpful to bring five full magazines to the match\, or speed loaders if you have a revolver. Have them loaded when you get to the line. You can load magazines behind the shooting line\, you just can’t handle or load firearms. If you’re just starting out and don’t have that many\, we can pass them off to someone who will help you reload while you’re shooting.\nIt is better to only shoot as fast as you can hit the plates. Misses are costly. Speed will come with experience. Also keep in mind that the missed plate penalty is 3 seconds. So often time it’s better to take the penalty if you are facing a difficult plate.\nPlease do not bring a brand new gun or a recently worked on gun unless you have checked it’s in good working order first. A match is no place to find out something isn’t working with your firearm. If your firearm is found to be malfunctioning in a dangerous manner\, you won’t be permitted to continue with it.\nBe sure you have good muzzle discipline and are good about always keeping your muzzle pointed in a safe direction. Finger must be off the trigger unless your sights are on the target. We can be forgiving of newbies who need to take their time\, and don’t know all the ropes\, but we do require that you’re always a safe shooter.\nYou’ll be hitting 10″ and 12″ steel targets at distances of 10 to 20 yards. If you can somewhat consistently hit in a 10″ target at 10 yards\, you’ll probably be able to do OK in this match. If you struggle to land shots in that radius\, you might want to practice a bit before trying our match

SUMMARY:Rifle Silhouette Match | 'Buffalo and Bucket' + Handgun
DESCRIPTION:Classes: Rifle and Handgun \nBullets must be Cast LEAD only\, no jacketed or half jacket bullets. Powder can be smokeless or blackpowder. \nThe Buffalo silhouette match is typically shot first. The Buffalo is about 4 ft long and 2 ft tall. Competitors are given unlimited sighter shots\, either from the bench or standing\, to verify windage and elevation. \nAfter the sighters\, the shots for record commence\, all from the offhand or standing position. \nEach competitor comes to the line\, and for the first elimination gets 3 shots maximum to hit the silhouette target. If he/she hits the target in 3 tries or less\, they continue to the next elimination. If they do not hit the target in the first 3 shots\, they are disqualified and are out. \nNext\, the remaining shooters get a maximum of 2 shots to hit the target. If they hit the target they move on\, otherwise they are out. \nFinally\, the last remaining shooters are allowed a maximum of one shot to hit the target. If they hit it\, they move on to the next elimination and the last person to hit the target with a single shot WINS. There is one winner in the Scoped Rifle category and one winner in the Iron Sight category. \nAfter the Buffalo Match\, that metal silhouette is taken down and replaced by a ‘Quigley Bucket’ target. This match follows the same course of fire. The bucket is an almost-square piece of steel plate about 18” wide and 20” high\, hanging from chains in the same metal frame. \nStarts out at 3 shots and down to last shooters at 1 shot each until there is only 1 winner.

SUMMARY:2026 Ingvertsen Veterans Charity IDPA Match
DESCRIPTION:This match will use Rifle\, Pistol\, and Plate Ranges in addition to Action Pistol Pits\nThe International Defensive Pistol Association (IDPA) was founded in 1996 with the goal of creating an action shooting competition based upon the realistic use of handguns for personal defense. IDPA offers an exciting forum for practical shooters in which truly practical equipment\, techniques and courses of fire are mandated. Prior to IDPA\, there was no place to compete with common service pistols. There were no shooting sports where your concealed carry holster could also be your match holster without handicap. \nThe Veterans Charity Match benefits Canaan VFW who provides aid to area veterans. This will be the Fourth year for this event. We will use 5 ranges and shoot 10 stages total. \nIf you have never shot an action pistol type competition and would like to learn more we offer a no cost 2-3 hour workshop that will cover everything you need to know to be ready for your first match. If interested\, please contact ap@nwcsa.org. \nSafety brief\, pledge\, and walk through of first stages begins 8:45AM. \nPlease arrive 45-60 min before match start time to register and gear up. \nPlease note that pre-registration and payment is required on Practiscore.
